President wants salary debt restructured

Victor Yushchenko has asked Ukraine’s regional authorities to restructure salary debts at state-controlled companies by the end of 2007 and reduce these debts by at least two times at bankrupt companies. He said the Prosecutor General’s Office should control whether salaries in the budget sector are paid on time and salary debts paid off.

According to the President’s press office, the President said the government’s debt was almost UAH 900 million. Although this sum is less than it was last year, the debt is stillUAH 30 million bigger than it was at the beginning of this year, he complained.
