Victor Yushchenko attended a ceremony on Thursday to honor Ukrainian artists with state awards, president's press office reported.
“Appreciating the role of culture in our life and respecting your attitudes and outlooks, I would like to say that I understand perfectly well your unique mission and your role in promoting social and political harmony and uniting our society,” he said.
The President offered his best to those celebrating today’s Day of Artists and Folk Art Amateurs and International Theatre Day, and said he was willing to resolve problems facing the country’s book publishers, theatres, and museums. He promised to support measures aimed at improving the status of artists.
“On behalf of the Ukrainian state, I would like to thank you for your commitment and professional activity,” he said.
