The President of Ukraine Viktor Yushchenko issued a decree that forbids to build high blocks and off-dimension buildings in central historical part of Kyiv. Viktor Bondar the deputy head of the President’s Secretariat told today the journalists.

“The president signed a decree and charged Kyiv state municipal administration to make order on this question, to forbid construction of high blocks and off-dimension buildings in central historical part of Kyiv,” Bondar said.

According to Bondar, the President charged the Kyiv state municipal administration to fix a border of historical part of Kyiv.

The President also charged the Cabinet to make order on construction in central parts of other cities of Ukraine, and creation of rest and green zones.

Yushchenko charged the Office of Public Prosecutor within three months to check legality of constructions in the historical part of Kyiv. “All submissions should be revised and analyzed,” Bondar said.

According to the President’s Secretariat, nowadays about 100 objects have permission for construction that break architectural integrity of the city. Kyiv authority also intends to give permission for construction of 50 objects.
