President's Advisor Oleh Rybachuk joined the Caucasian-Caspian Commission and attended its first meeting in Brussels on February 12-13, president's press office reported.
Its members spoke about energy and regional issues.
Rybachuk said the Commission had been established to peacefully resolve regional conflicts and formulate strategies to develop the region’s cooperation with the European Union. He said Ukraine was interested in participating in its projects.
Rybachuk met with U.S. Ambassador to NATO Victoria Nuland and NATO Assistant Secretary General for Defense Policy and Planning John Colston during his three-day visit. They spoke about how to develop Ukraine’s ties with the alliance. He said “Ukraine’s path to Europe is through NATO,” adding that Kyiv wanted to take part in contributing to Europe’s security.
He also met with NATO Permanent Representative of Slovakia Igor Slobodnik, NATO Assistant Secretary General for Public Diplomacy Jean Fournet and Javier Solana’s Advisor Pirka Tapiolo.
