Accompanied by NSDCU Secretary Vitaly Haiduk, National Bank Chairman Volodymyr Stelmakh, Deputy Foreign Minister Volodymyr Khandogiy and Deputy Secretariat Chief of Staff Oleksandr Chalyy, Victor Yushchenko has left for a three-day visit to Germany, president's press office reported.

On February 8, the President is scheduled to meet with German Chancellor Angela Merkel in Berlin for talks expected to focus on how to build closer ties between Ukraine and the European Union, as well as between Ukraine and Germany.

He will then meet Germany’s business leaders, politicians and journalists and deliver a speech on developments in Ukraine after last year’s parliamentary elections.

On February 9, Yushchenko will visit the Flossenburg Concentration Camp Memorial Complex, where his father, Andriy, was kept during the WWII. He will also meet with Bavaria’s Prime Minister Edmund Stoiber and lunch with Bavarian Interior Minister Gunther Beckstein in Munich.

On February 10, the President will attend the 43rd Munich Conference on Security Policy. He is expected to meet with NATO Secretary General Jaap de Hoop Scheffer.
