Ukraine makes report on fulfillment of statements of the European Charter of regional languages of languages of minorities in the country for the European Council, the press service of the Justice Ministry informs, referring to the deputy Justice Minister Valeriya Lutkovskaya.
According to her, it will be the first periodical report of Ukraine which, in accordance with the Charter’s statements, should be presented after a year of Charter’s operation. Next reports are presented every three years after the first report.
She reminded that the European Charter of regional languages of languages of minorities was ratified by Ukraine on May 15, 2003 and has come into effect for Ukraine since January 1, 2006.
The reports are presented to the General Secretary of the Council of Europe and should contain information about policy of the country. Moreover the report should contain actions made by the country to carry out those statements of the Charter the country adheres and those that concerns questions on education, judicial power, administrative bodies and public services, mass media, culture, economy and social life.
