During 2007 Ukraine means to sign a series of international agreements on legal assistance. In particular, the Justice Ministry has readied seven international agreements on legal assistance in civil and criminal proceedings, as well as on extradition of convicts, for signing in 2007, the Ukrainian Justice Ministry's press service reported.

According to Justice Minister Olexander Lavrynovych, Ukraine is ready to sign agreements with Libya on extradition of convicts and on legal assistance in civil and criminal proceedings. Moreover, agreements with Brazil on extradition of convicts, with Belarus on extradition of convicts, sentenced to imprisonment for servicing sentence, with Thailand on reciprocal legal assistance in criminal proceedings, with India on reciprocal legal assistance in civil and economic proceedings have been drafted. The Justice Ministry has also drafted an agreement between Ukraine and the UN on implementation of sentences of the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia.

According to Lavrynovych, as of January 1, Ukraine concluded 95 international treaties on legal assistance in civil and criminal proceedings, including 46 bilateral and 49 multilateral, drafted within the framework of the Council of Europe, UN and the Hague Conference on Private International Law, “Cabinet press office” informs.
