Yushchenko underlined that he would not recede from his position.
He declared his readiness to consider any compromise variants, which will result in establishment of minimum pension at the level of living wage. At that he noted that according to expects estimations, living wage of January 1 will make 405 UAH, while the budget bill provides for only 385 UAH per month.
The Head of State informed that a working group of the President’s Secretariat and Finance Ministry is working on this problem.

The President cited an example where these means may be taken from. In particular, the state budget provides means for financing construction of three airports. In Yushchenko’s opinion, it must be done, but not at the expenses of the state budget. The President expressed readiness to provide state guarantees for commercial structures, which may take these projects.
Yushchenko underscored that there are two million pensioners in Ukraine, whose pensions are lower than the living wage. According to him, other eight million pensioners get pension equal to the living wage.
He reminded that he sent three letters to the government and the parliament as for settlement of this issue.
