The State Service of Veterinary Medicine cannot authorize meat import from Poland until revealed violations are removed, a letter by chief veterinary inspector Ivan Bisyuk to the Cabinet of ministers and the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Poland to Ukraine about results of inspecting Polish packing plants said.
As a result of the inspection of five poultry and eight pork meat processing enterprises, the Ukrainian checking mission drew to a conclusion that significant drawbacks in the enterprises' activities still exist. The Polish active system of veterinary control and surveillance over livestock and poultry breeding, killing, processing, storing and exporting is still inefficient, Ukrainian experts believe.
Proceeding from the above mentioned facts and in compliance with the international legislation in this domain Ukraine banned import of meat and meat articles from Poland.
