Humanitarian vice Prime Minister Dmytro Tabachnyk calls appointment of Viktor Baloha the "Our Ukraine" Council Chairperson as a triple deja vu. This was disclosed by Dmytro Tabachnyk at a December 8 meeting with journalists.
“As far as I remember, various parties were headed by Chiefs of the Residential Secretariats, which always resulted in the parties' independence reduction,” Dmytro Tabachnyk said.
The Vice Prime Minister believes it's complicated to combine position of the Presidential Secretariat Chief and the party's leader. This envisages certain dependence, in regard with political positions. I hope, I won't assault anyone, noting that the Social Democratic Party's popularity slipped low in 2002 to 2005 as its activity was associated closely to activity of the authorities.
Dmytro Tabachnyk opines it resulted form certain agreements within the party.
December 7 saw sitting of the People's Union "Our Ukraine" council, with participation of the President Viktor Yushchenko. The sitting resulted in election of Viktor Baloha, the People's Union "Our Ukraine" chairperson, while Roman Bezsmertny was elected the "Our Ukraine" executive committee chairperson, “Cabinet press office” reported.
