Prime Minister Viktor Yanukovych, on
working trip to USA, met with United States Trade Representative Susan C.
Schwab to discuss perspectives of Ukraine's joining the WTO, NRCU reports.
The Ukrainian Prime Minister said Ukraine was very close to the
desirable end. "Ukraine has been negotiating on integration to the WTO for
13 years and we hope the 14th will be the last," he said. In her turn,
Susan Schwab said that the schedule of Ukraine's accession to the WTO depended
on the moves of Ukraine. The meeting also dealt with positive dynamics of trade
turnover volumes between Ukraine and the USA.
During 2006's nine months the volume of trade turnover between Ukraine and the USA reached 1.93 bn. USD, which was 14 percent more versus the similar period of 2005, with Ukrainian exports grew by 25 percent and imports by 11 percent.
