Ukrainian Minister for Fuel and Energy Yuri Boyko is paying a working visit to Moscow, the Ministry's press service reported. He was supposed to meet with Gazprom CEO Aleksey Miller and President of the joint-stock company "Transneft" Semyon Vainshtok to discuss stepping up of oil and gas transit volumes via Ukraine.

Ukraine transports 80 percent of Russian natural gas to Europe and 30 million tons of Russian petroleum.

As a result of the meetings, Ukraine's OJSC Ukrtransnafta and Russia's OJSC Transneft have agreed to increase oil transit through Ukraine in 2007.

"As a result of two months of negotiations with Transneft, a decision was taken to considerably increase oil transit, first of all via the Odesa-Brody and Druzhba pipelines," Ukrtransnafta board chairman Ihor Kiriushin said after a meeting with Transneft President Semyon Vainshtok in Moscow on Thursday.

Ukrainian Fuel and Energy Minister Yuri Boiko, who also took part in the meeting, said that the agreements reached will play a part in cementing a long-term partnership and will benefit the economies of both countries.
