Russia will have to increase gas price for Ukraine, as Russia lacks “blue fuel” even for inner needs, ex-vice PM of the Russian Federation Borys Nemtsov told journalists in Kyiv.

“Dear friends, Russia falls short of gas for itself. The day after tomorrow Putin will hold a meeting on gas deficit. In this connection, even if Putin wants to sell Ukraine cheap gas, he won’t be able to do anything,” Nemtsov said.

“Gas deficit in Russia will grow. Gazprom has not exploited any new gas field and has not built any new gas pipeline for the last six years. Gas production has increased by 3% only, while economy has increased by 50%. That’s why Russia cannot allow selling gas at low prices,” Nemtsov added.

“Ukraine must get ready for gas price increase,” the politician underlined.
