Pro-presidential bloc Our Ukraine has decided nevertheless to celebrate the second anniversary of the orange revolution and to hold large-scale actions on the Maydan square. OU member Ihor Zhdanov told Thursday at a press conference in Kyiv.

He reminded that President of Ukraine Victor Yushchenko decreed to announce November 22 a Day of freedom.

It is planed to invite famous remedial activists and dissidents of Soviet times not only from Ukraine, but from Russia, Georgia, Poland and Baltic countries. It is also planed to commemorate journalists Georgy Gongadze and Anna Politkovskaya, poet Vasyl Stus and leader of Narodny Rukh Vyacheslav Chornovil.

According to Zhdanov, the organizational committee on celebration is headed by former brother-in-arms, and now – irreconcilable opponents – leader of OU parliamentary faction Roman Bezsmertny and BYuT leader Yulia Tymoshenko.

Zhdanov also reported that Our Ukraine hopes to see Victor Yushchenko on Maydan on November 22, but does not want to see Premier Victor Yanukovych and VR speaker Oleksandr Moroz. “I do not consider it expedient to invite these politicians,” Zhdanov underlined.
