The President of Ukraine urges to fix a gas price in a corresponding document, Deputy Chief-of-Staff Oleksandr Chalyi quoted his words to the journalists.
The President’s position on this question is based upon the regulations of the Ukrainian legislation: “The intergovernmental agreement on the cooperation with Russia within the gas field was ratified by the parliament. It provides for the governmental protocols’ guidance over the price policy on the Russian gas supplies to Ukraine before any commercial structures conclude treaties based upon these protocols.”
According Chalyi’s words, the President’s Secretariat is to address the prospects of the intergovernmental protocol’s conclusion. It is the key issue of the Ukraine-Russia relations.
He also outlined that the Secretariat does not have any info about the gas transit price at its disposal.
Previously, Russia used to connect the gas price with the oil price in the world market, now when the world has the oil price decreased, it needs corresponding reaction form Moscow, Chalyi mentioned.
