Ukraine’s Defence Minister Hrytsenko takes part in a session of the South-Eastern European Council of Defence Ministers held in Tirana (Albania). Ukrainian delegation headed by Minister Hrytsenko arrived yesterday in Albania.

The defence departments heads of Italy, Greece, Turkey, Ukraine, Albania, Bulgaria, Romania, Slovenia, Macedonia, Croatia and the USA are t take part in the session. As special invited guests, Serbian, Montenegrin, Bosnian and Herzegovina Defence Ministers participate in the event. The Moldovan Defence Minister is to present as an observer.

Before the official plenary session, Ukraine’s Hrytsenko and the US Donald H. Ramsfeld are to hold a scheduled meeting.

In the course of the discussion, the participants are to address the issues related to the security in the region, peacekeeping operations and pressing questions of the military cooperation. The main attention will be focused on the results of South-Eastern European (SEE) multinational peacekeeping forces’ mission in Afghanistan, issues connected with SEE countries-NATO members’ support for SEE-countries which are not NATO members regarding future accession into the North Atlantic Alliance, and the issue on granting an observer-status in the SEE Council of Ministers to Serbia, Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina.
