Georgiy Gongadze mysteriously disappeared six years ago.
Victor Yushchenko and his family remember him as a sincere and gifted young man: “Today, we remember Georgiy as a journalist whose main traits were inner freedom and care for Ukraine.”
The President offered sympathy to the journalist’s family. He said the government was taking steps to honor Georgiy, the press office informed. He also pledged to solve the crime by punishing his killers and, more importantly, revealing those who ordered the murder.The name of Georgiy has become a symbol of political changes and freedom of speech, he added.
Today, flowers from the President have been laid and a candle litat the memorial sign to Georgiy in Tarashcha.
