According to USAID sources, the US Export-Import Bank will provide guarantees for $100 million investments in energy-saving projects for Ukraine within the framework of the USAID Program, the Initiatives toward the Ukrainian industry's energy efficiency quoted.

The USAID is supposed to earmark $1 million for technically supporting that program's implementation. The program provides, in particular, for financing audits of Ukrainian companies, seeking to get credits from non-state-owned banks. Up to fifteen Ukrainian businesses may count on getting loans within the framework of the said program, the Cabinet press office reports.

The eligible applicants are supposed to undergo preliminary audits by late 2006. Energy-saving audits will be completed in 2007's first half, the USAID sources disclosed.
