The most effective for Ukraine is participation in European system of collective security, but not in North-Atlantic Alliance, head of the Permanent delegation of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine to PACE Borys Oliynyk considers.

“I stand for Ukraine’s participation in the system of collective security within Europe, but not NATO, which is a fighting colony of Pentagon,” Oliynyk said on the press conference today.

According to Oliynyk, NATO exhausted itself after the dismissal of Warsaw treaty.

Ukraine must stir its cooperation with security institutes of Europe – OSCE and the European Union, Oliynyk said.

“Europe finishes the formation of the system of collective security, which has already started to work. It means that Europe has realized such necessity and will provide security independently, without any prompting from superstates,” Oliynyk added.

In his turn, the deputy head of the Permanent delegation of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine to PACE Anatoly Rakhansky considers that the decision to join NATO must be made by means of national referendum.

“People should be told about NATO, about its merits and flows,” Rakhansky is convinced.
