The presidium delivered a statement, in which it expressed worry about aggravation of public and political situation in the autonomy.
In particular, the statement says that “unreasoned actions of Defense Ministry as regards unshipping of US military load in Feodosia port and arrival of US military men in Simferopol airport caused aggravation of the situation.”
According to the document, government of Crimea autonomy republic has not even been informed about conduct of these exercises, which is violation of constitutional regulations as regards the autonomy authorities.
“Expressing interests of Crimea citizens, Presidium of the Verkhovna Rada of Crimea appeals to the President of Ukraine with the request to suspend cooperation of Defense Ministry of Ukraine with US structures and NATO on the territory of Crimean peninsula till the issue is considered by the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.
Simultaneously the Presidium appeals to the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine with the request to consider the issue urgently, as any delay can cause further escalation of protest actions.
In current public and political situation the Presidium considers it inexpedient to conduct exercises “Sea-Breeze-2006” on the territory of the autonomy,” the statement says.
