“German-Polish-Ukrainian Community” civil organisation has requested the Kyiv City Council to let 1.28 hectare of land in Tychyna Avenue, 28b, Dneprovski district for construction of the Protection Centre for Homeless Children “Our Children,” German Ambassador Dietmar Studemann said at the meeting with the Deputy Kyiv Mayor Oles Dovhyi.

The organisation has rented the building to this address but it badly needs reconstruction, Mr. Studemann added. The Kyiv City Council has been asked to issue the corresponding resolution which would permit the construction works.

Oleksandr Chalyi, the member of the Community’s Supervisory Board, in turns, stressed that the first line of the Centre is scheduled to be open in October and the Kyiv City Council’s resolution has to be passed in May.

The opening ceremony is dedicated to the Ukraine-Germany Summit where the Chancellor of Germany Merkel and Queen Silvia of Sweden are invited.

According to the project, the Centre may host 80 homeless children. The kids will take the course of the social adaptation in the conditions close to the family.

Dovhyi stated his own control over the land lease and Kyiv Mayor Chernovetsky’s assistance in this settlement. He also mentioned that the project is an exemplary one and may attract the attention of potential investors to the similar projects initiated by other organisations.

The representatives of the organisation declared that the project does need financial aid from the capital because it has own agreements with the investors.

As a reminder, the Cabinet of Ukraine approved of the resolution on Centre of Homeless Citizens Registration worked out by the Labour and Social Policy Ministry.
