“We regret Ukrainians leaving Lebanon,” said Richard Morshinski, the Advisor of the Political Councillor of UN Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) Commander.
The final stage of Ukrainian troops and equipment withdrawal from Lebanon has been launched, Ukraine’s Defence Ministry informed. The 3rd Ukrainian Special Sapper Battalion finishes its mission in peacekeeping operation within UNIFIL.
April 10, the last group of Ukrainian sapper troops will be brought to Ukraine by TU-154 owned by “Ukrainian Air Transport Company” national enterprise. April 8, the Ukrainian equipment will be ferried from Beirut port to Oktyabrsky, Mykolayiv.
“The contribution of the Ukrainian peacekeeping forces to UNO mission in the South Lebanon is really immense and it is not just fine words or exaggerations. We were proved to deal with real professionals of mine cleaning and engineering operations. Due to Ukrainians, UNIFIL has succeeded in increasing of humanitarian aid for the last three month,” stressed Mr. Morshinski.
