“Constitution clearly determines circle of people, who must enjoy immunity of a deputy. These are President, people’s deputies of Ukraine and judges. Nobody else,” said the deputy in particular, ForUm’s correspondent informs.
According to Kryuchkov, when the Verkhovna Rada had decided to give the immunity status to deputies of local councils, parliamentarians abused their plenary powers. “But it happened in the certain situation, when the repressions started after presidential elections and people needed defense,” added the MP.
In his turn, deputy Nestor Shufrich called the decision “unfair”. According to him, such decisions should be passed “starting from the VR deputies and the President of Ukraine.”
Chairman of Luhansk regional council Victor Tykhonov considers that by today’s decision to lift immunity from local authorities the Parliament has subjected local deputies to police's tortures.
According to Tykhonov, after the decision comes into force, mass arrests of deputies will begin.
“The aim of such decision is to show that deputies of local councils are enemies of Kyiv power,” noted Tykhonov.
