Minister of Industrial Policy of Ukraine Volodymyr Shandra declares that further reduction of volume of gas delivering to industrial enterprises will negatively influence gross domestic product of the country.
“I don’t know what Naftogaz strives for. We will save up to two million cu m of gas every 24-hours – it is nothing in the country’s balance – but sharply decrease GDP,” pointed out the Minister during today’s session of the government.
Shandra also added that Ministry of Industrial Policy has already sent a letter to Ministry for Fuel and Energy, in which it informs about the situation, appeared because of reduction of gas supply to industrial enterprises.
As reported earlier, to January 30 gas consumption had reduced by 11.55% in regions and cities of Ukraine.
To January 23, 2006 the Metallurgical complex of Ukraine had consumed only 90.29% of planned volume.
Director General of Yenakievo metallurgical plant considers it impossible to reduce gas consumption without considerable reduction of production volume. He warns that the plant is under the threat of complete halt of blast furnaces in connection with explicit order to limit gas consumption.
