Ukrainian delegation at the head of Minister for Fuel and Energy of Ukraine Ivan Plachkov (according to the VR resolution acting minister – ed.) discussed issue of Turkmen gas delivery and new routs of its transportation with Turkmenistan’s President Saparmurat Niyazov on January 22 in Moscow.
The meeting took place by prior arrangement with Turkmen President, as reported Plachkov’s press secretary Lilia Klochko.
According to Klochko, Ukrainian delegation did not meet with Gazprom representatives.
On December 2005 Ukraine and Turkmenistan signed a contract on supply of 40 milliard cu m of Turkmen gas to Ukraine in 2006.
On January 4, 2006, after the signing of the agreement on gas supply between Naftogaz Ukrainy, Gazprom and RosUkrEnergo, PM of Ukraine Yuri Yekhanurov informed that joint Ukrainian-Russian venture, formed by Naftogaz and RosUkrEnergo, would deliver 34 milliard cu m of gas at $95, as according to the agreement. “It will be partly Russian and Turkmen gas,” declared Yekhanurov. The rest of Turkmen gas will be delivered at the price of $50 for 1000 cu m in the first half year and at $60 in the second half year, as according to the contract with Turkmenistan, signed earlier.
