Former President Leonid Kuchma's residence “Guta” in Ivano-Frankivsk region will be leased to Ukrainian businessmen, as declared Ihor Tarasyuk, head of State Affairs Department, in an interview to “Delo” newspaper.

“At first we wanted to reequip it into an institution for children – hospital or health centre, but it turned out to be ineffective. Then the question arose as to whether to sell the object,” said Tarasyuk. According to State Affairs Chairman, the residence costs more than 250 million hryvnias.

“But since state money had been spent, we decided to make the most efficient use of the object. We will lease it, and there are some businessmen, who are ready to rent it. Forums or business conferences can be held there,” noted Tarasyuk.

The Head of State Affairs Department also commented on the fate of the property, remained from the previous power. “We received one request for Kuchma’s furniture. But we aren’t authorized to sell it. State Property Fund isn’t authorized to sell movables either. And now we have a stubborn problem,” complained Tarasyuk.

“We agreed with the Cabinet not to touch upon this question. We are preparing a list of object for sale now, and I think we will get the right to organize auctions next year,” he added.
