In December of 2005, the gold and exchange currency reserves of the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) reduced by 0.39% or $76.71 million. It makes $19.395 million, the press office of the National Bank of Ukraine informed.

According to the National Bank, on December 31, the share of the monetary gold in the reserves made $275.89 million (November 30 – $265.27 million), the cash currency - $14.40 million (November 30 – $14.52 million) and the other currency reserves - $19.103 million (November, 30 – $19.190 million).

In December, NBU balance interventions in currency interbank was positive and made +$8.1 million.

The reduction of the reserves was caused by the payments on external state obligation of Ukraine.
