Today MPs of Ukraine obliged Yuri Lutsenko, Minister of Internal Affairs, to appear before Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine with the report about investigation of “Kolesnikov case”, ForUm’s correspondent reported.

233 MPs voted for the draft decree, according to which Yuri Lutsenko must inform MPs about appropriateness of law enforcement bodies’ actions during investigation of “Kolesnikov case” till the end of today’s plenary session.

 
The draft decree also provided for report of Top Human Rights official Nina Karpachyova on “Kolesnikov case”, but parliamentarians excluded this point from the decree.

Faction of Party of Regions also submitted for consideration a draft decree, which provides for report of Yuri Lutsenko about facts of tortures during the investigation of “Kolesnikov case”. MP of Ukraine Mikhailo Dobkin informed Parliament that one of the detained witnesses was subjected to torture and is presently staying in “ambulance” hospital in grave condition. The victim declares that Donetsk police forced him to give evidence against Kolesnikov and put him on the rack in order to fasten “the right decision”.

The faction demands to call Yuri Lutsenko to Parliament, to listen to the report of Ombudsman Nina Karpachyova, to fire the head of Donetsk Internal Affairs Department. “Regionals” also call on the President to intervene in the case and to defend right of the detained from police despotism.
