Ukraine agreed to sign 16 documents within the framework of plans to create the Common Economic Area, incorporating Belarus, Kazakhstan, Russia and Ukraine, Prime Minister Yuri Yekhanurov told foreign diplomats in Kyiv on Monday.

The Economics Minister has just returned from Moscow, Mr Yekhanurov told the envoys.

We are working on 93 draft documents, sixteen of which Ukraine is ready to sign, Mr Yekhanurov noted.

As he maintained, Ukraine's participation in the CEA should not contradict the Constitution and active legislation.

Besides, this process must not run counter to Ukraine's strategic course toward Euro-Atlantic integration and the nation's bid for joining the WTO.

What Ukraine objects to is the idea of setting up supranational bodies within the CEA, Yuriy Yekhanurov told the diplomats.
