Ukrainian Foreign Minister Borys Tarasyuk met with Finnish Speaker Paavo Lipponen, on a visit to Kiev, Thursday, the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry's press service informed.

The parties discussed European and Euro - Atlantic integration of Ukraine, regional issues and Ukraine's accedence to the WTO.

Borys Tarasyuk highly assessed the level of bilateral relations between Ukraine and Finland and aired his hope for constructive cooperation in Ukraine's Eurointegration during Finland's presidency in the EU in 2006's second half. The Ukrainian Foreign Minister referred to the Finnish presidency in the EU in 1999, when the EU Strategy with regard to Ukraine was approved. He stressed the importance of passing new important resolutions on Ukraine during a Ukraine - EU summit in Helsinki in 2006's second half.

The Finnish Speaker expressed his support for European choice of Ukraine and emphasized the importance of Ukraine's soonest possible accession to the WTO and conclusion of a free trade zone agreement between Ukraine and the EU.

He also stated readiness to share European integration experience of Finland with Ukraine, particularly, in forming internal state mechanisms of interagency interaction.
