On his visit to Washington acting Minister for Foreign Affairs Borys Tarasyuk met with Assistant to the US President for National Security Affairs Stephen Hadley, the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry's spokesman Vasyly Filipchuk informed.

As Stephen Hadley stressed, the USA comprehensively supports Ukraine on the way of reforms, which was confirmed by President George Bush during a telephone talk with Victor Yushchenko. According to the US President's Assistant, "introduction of ideals of the 'Orange Revolution' is very important for the USA", he expressed his hope that the Ukrainian President and the new government will spare no effort to achieve this goal.

The sides touched on international developments. In particular, Stephen Hadley hailed Ukraine's efforts to settle the Transdniestrian conflict.

The Ukrainian acting Foreign Minister and the Assistant to the US President for the National Security Affairs focused on ways to step up bilateral relations, having agreed to shortly exchange visits.

Mr Tarasyuk conveyed the Ukrainian President's invitation to George Bush to pay a visit to Ukraine.
