The government of Sweden plans to grant a financial help in the amount of 17 million euros to Ukraine till the year 2008, as announced by Dmitry Svistkov – the deputy head of the press-service of Ministry for Foreign Affairs.

According to him, it is said in the new strategy of cooperation with Ukraine for 2005-2008, ratified by Swedish government.

The document supports eurointegration aspirations of Ukraine. The strategy provides for gradual increase of annual financial help amount to 150 million Swedish kronas (about 16.7 million euros) in 2008, which exceeds twice the current activities.

The cooperation will be directed to strengthening of democracy, defence of human rights and environment, social security, economic reforms, education and sciences.

The Swedish side also considers it important to support democratic development in Ukraine, added Svistkov.
