On May 29 the Constituent Assembly of Whole-Ukrainian Students’ Rada – collective organ, which will defend students’ interests at state level – took place in Kiev.
The conference was held by the leaders of local self-government of institution of higher learning, who were authorized by students from their regions.
The coordinator charged with Rada formation, Ivan Slobodyanik, declared that the participants of the conference represented interests of about million students from the whole Ukraine.
The delegation of Ministry of education and science, headed by the minister Stanislav Nickolaenko, and representatives of students’ self-government organs from Poland and Canada also took part in the conference.
In the near future the board will form the executive organ of the Whole-Ukrainian Students’ Rada – secretariat – and will elect the head of the secretariat. The holding of the next conference is planned on October 2005.
