The president of Ukraine Victor Yushchenko signed an edict "About permit for divisions of Armed forces of other countries to stay on the territory of Ukraine in 2005 for participation in international military exercises," the press-service of the president reported.

The document is issued reasoning from Charter regulations about partnership between Ukraine and NATO for 2005 and taking into account obligations of Ukraine as a country-participant of the Program "Partnership for peace."

According to the presidential edict the following divisions of Armed forces of foreign countries will be permitted on the territory of Ukraine in 2005:

June 19-30 – countries NATO-members and other states (600 servicemen with regular armament and military equipment) for participation in "Cooperative Best Effort – 2005" exercises;

July 11 – August 13 – the USA and other states (500 servicemen with regular armament and military equipment) for participation in "Shield of Peace – 2005" exercises;

September-October – Italy (1500 servicemen with regular armament and military equipment) for participation in "Wide field – 2005" exercises;

October 10-13 – countries NATO-members and countries-members of Organization for prohibition of chemical weapon (500 servicemen with regular armament and military equipment) for participation in "ASSISTEX-2" exercises.

The president charged Cabinet to provide timely access and withdrawal of foreign divisions and security of Ukrainian citizens during the exercises.
