The president of Ukraine, Victor Yushchenko, did not support the idea of the state secretary Alexander Zinchenko concerning referendum of political reform.

"Everything must be done clearly. But we turned the political reform into "a black cat". Ones consider this decision appropriate, others - on the verge of political correctness," said Yushchenko in an interview to "Ukraina moloda" (Young Ukraine).

Speaking about adoption of political reform, Yushchenko admitted that "there was no other decision – the main aim was to prevent civil conflict."

We remind, Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine brought changes into Constitution of Ukraine on December 8, 2004. According to political reform Ukraine became a parliamentary-presidential republic.

Changes in Constitution come into force on September 1, 2005.

On April 15 the state secretary Alexander Zinchenko declared about practicability to perform a whole-Ukrainian referendum "of some questions of political reform." According to Zinchenko, he considers the changes in Constitution, provided for by the political reform, "imperfect."
